Mike Crater and Kristopher Matias have always
loved the holidays. Especially Halloween. The fall was
always the magical and mysterious time of the year.

Kristopher has always been crafty and artistic, such
as building props and setting things up for special
events and parties.

About 2001, Kris and Mike started making some
Halloween props out of wood and wire mesh fencing
they bought from the Home Depot. Mike purchased a
latex Devil creature and a fog machine from
Spencer's. They then added a red flood light and viol
la, the first prop was made!

From then on the rest of the props were built. By
2002, the whole area that surrounds Mikes Brick
Oven was covered with props, barrels, fog
machines, and hay bails. Yes, HAY BAILS!

In 2003, Mike decided to go all out, and purchased
150 hay bails from a farm. They set them up all
around the property for the season. Along came the
Fire Marshal, who declared the bails to be unsafe.
Mike and Kris begged him to let them keep the hay
bails and do whatever they could to keep them safe.
The Fire Marshal then said they could set them up in
the back yard as long as they were kept so many
feet from the pizza shop and garage.

They quickly built a maze out of the hay bails and
stalks of corn. They then threw in some volunteer
actors, and set up some props. They bought a cheap
boom box to play scary music. And, well...
